President Williams Ruto has unleashed a force of change in the gaming industry of Kenya. A brand new National Lottery task force has been assembled, with a 22-member committee ready to shake things up starting 16 February 2023. Their mission? To reshape the gaming landscape and ignite the nation’s responsible betting and gaming culture.
The newly set up committee consists of two branches: The steering and technical committees. Dr Raval Narendra has been appointed to preside over the technical committee and will be assisted by Gideon Thuranira.
The committee also includes members from various Ministries. This comprises the Ministry of Interior, National Treasury, Social Protection, Culture and Heritage. Likewise, a representative of the Solicitor General’s office and the council of the Governor’s office act as committee reps.
At the helm of the technical committee stands the remarkable Dr Linda Musumba, joined by the exceptional talents of Wanjiku Wakogi, Dr Eric Aligula, and Collins Kiprono. The team is further strengthened by the inclusion of Peter Mbugi, Fred Mbasi, Geoffrey Malombe, Eric Korir, Wilson Njenga, Catherine Ochanda, and Murimi Murage.
A memo on 17 February required the task force to develop procedures and consultations necessary to discharge its portfolio. On his appointment of the task force, Ruto stated that “it is geared towards promoting a responsible betting and gaming culture in Kenya.”
Under President Ruto’s visionary leadership, the task force is poised to revolutionize gaming and lottery in Kenya, ensuring a vibrant and responsible gaming culture for all. Brace yourself for the dawn of a new era in the world of gaming and lottery!
